Update

It's been a long while since I last updated my blog. I'm back and healthier than ever before. I celebrated my birthday last month and my mom gave me new suits. Been a while since I've worn my suits since they are all too big on me now. Looking back at my last year's birthday, if you can remember, my sugar was at its all time high at 535.

This year 2015 and 100 pounds lighter, this is me wearing my new suit.

Here's another now and then comparison

And lastly, I want to share to you our family photo from 2013 and the most recent one we had. What a difference a year makes.

God bless,
Joe

New Exercise Bike

I've been working a lot of hours lately and hasn't been able to stick to my daily gym work outs. So I decided to get an exercise bike I can use at home when I don't have time to go to the gym. Found a nice one on Amazon and ordered. Here it is...
I was really excited about my new bike and just keep tracking it online but got really upset when they keep changing the estimated delivery date. The Sept 5th estimated delivery had come and gone and still NO BIKE. My wife contacted Amazon about the late delivery and said she wanted a refund.  The next day Amazon emailed us...

What a blessing! Got a refund for my bike and finally received the bike in the mail the day after I got the refund.  Now I get to enjoy my free bike even more! And guess who else are enjoying it?

Shout Out

I would like to give a shout out to Ivy Radcliffe of Phoenix Diabetes and Endocrinology for introducing me to Bariatric surgery and helping find out the right center for me to have my surgery done.  I also would like to thank Ivy for working with me when my diabetes was out of control and yelling at me to take care of myself for the sake of my wife and kids.  I really appreciate all your efforts to turn my life around and live a healthy lifestyle.

Got to surprise Ivy with a 75 pound lost, no more medications and a healthy me 2 months after my surgery. I'm glad to see how proud she is of me for the first time haha! With all seriousness though, I'm really thankful for all the help you did and still doing and now I can enjoy life and don't have to worry about getting sick again from diabetes. You are a true hero!
If  you're from the Phoenix area and need an Endocrinologist go check them out at Phoenix Diabetes and Endocrinology! They are awesome!

2 Month Post-Op

Nice to start the week with some good news...OFFICIALLY in the 270s!

277 pounds

Yes! I've lost 75 pounds since I had my VSG two months ago.  From a 4X shirt to 2X and 54 pants to 46. I'm feeling so much better physically and emotionally. I used to suffer emotional eating and just eat whenever I'm having a bad day but now I just go to the gym and walk, it makes me feel better about myself. I'm off medications and packed them all away!

Goodbye meds!

 Progress photos

I can now eat regular food but I watch my caloric intake and make sure I meet my daily nutritional needs. I drink at least 64 ounces of liquid a day to hydrate and replace fluid I lost from my work out. No more sweets and soda and I limit my carb intake. I average 5.5 miles walking on the treadmill everyday but sometimes when I had to work during the day and I don't make it to the gym on time at night, I just walk with my wife and kids around the block. Don't worry we bring a stroller with us and not let the kids walk for miles but they can walk if they want to. Just ordered a stationary bike so I can do some of my work outs at home, can't wait to get it delivered.

God bless,
Joe
